One of Colonial Maryland's greatest achievements so far would be the raised idea of religious tolerance and acceptance for all Christians, Catholics, and Protestants.
These images depict the freedom of religion being practiced in Colonial Maryland. In the last imagine, we are discussing our religion with the Native Americans
As aforementioned in the "History" page, Colonial Maryland was founded on the beliefs of Religious freedom for all. The main population of settlers were *Roman Catholics seeking religious freedom. However, Anglican farmers attempting to use Maryland's wonderful conditions to gain wealth also settle. Overall, a variety of other Christian groups can also be found, either settling for religious freedom just like the Roman Catholics or seeking financial gain like the Anglicans.
In 1649, the Maryland Toleration Act was passed by the ruling Calverts. This prevented Christians, Protestants, and Roman Catholics to prevent one another from discriminating each other on the basis of Religion. The ideas set forth behind the act were groundbreaking, as much of Colonial America was dominated by Protestants. This Act also predates any other attempt of religious freedom made by any of the other colonies.
*Note - after Roman Catholics, 30-40% of our population is slaves
